Q: When converting among different video standards such as PAL and NTSC, and HD and SD, what exactly is Reframe doing? |
| |
A: PAL video and NTSC video differ in both their frame size and frame rates. Reframe can convert both while maintaining the original quality. HD video and SD video typically differ just in frame size not in frame rate. Reframe can perform high quality conversions of the frame size to ensure you get clean images. This is especially important when increasing the frame size, i.e. when converting from SD to HD.

Q: Is Reframe a tool for professional users or amateurs? |

A: Reframe is a tool suitable for both types of users, in a similar way to Miraizon's Cinematize 2 and Cinematize 2 Pro products. Reframe is designed to be easy enough for non-professionals to start using immediately, yet it offers the high quality, advanced features, and performance needed by professionals.

Q: I want to convert video into a format suitable for viewing on iPods, iPhones, or iPads? How do I do this? |

A: Reframe allows you to easily convert video into formats suitable for viewing on iPods, iPhones, and iPads.
For iPad and iPhone 4, use the following settings:
- Video tab: For HD, choose "Convert to HD 720p30" (NTSC) or "Convert to HD 720p25" (PAL). If your video is 4:3 aspect, also change the frame size to be "960x720 4:3". For SD, choose "Convert to SD NTSC" or "Convert to SD PAL". Change the frame size to match your video aspect ratio, typically 4:3 or 16:9.
- Audio tab: Choose "Convert for DV/DVD".
- Output tab: Under "TV Display or Presentation", any option will work. Under "Web or Portable Devices", choose H.264 or MPEG-4.
For iPhone 3GS and all iPods, use the following settings:
- Video tab: For SD, choose "Convert for iPod 16:9" or "Convert for iPod 4:3". If your video is PAL, set the frame rate to be 25 fps. HD is not supported on these devices.
- Audio tab: Choose "Convert for CD/Web/iPod".
- Output tab: Under "Web or Portable Devices", choose any option other than "3GP Phone Movie".

Q: I want to convert my PAL DVD to NTSC DVD, can Reframe do this? How do I do this? |
| |
A: Reframe cannot directly convert DVD discs from one video standard to another. Instead, you will need to first extract out all the video and audio from the DVD using a tool such as our Cinematize 2 or Cinematize 2 Pro products. Once you have extracted out all the material from your DVD, you would then use Reframe to convert the video standard. Finally, you would create and burn the new DVD using the files converted by Reframe and your favorite DVD authoring program (e.g. iDVD, DVD Studio Pro, Encore, Roxio Toast or DVD Creator, Nero, etc).

Q: Can I specify an output file name? |
| |
A: Yes. When you add a file to the Input List, Reframe automatically creates a default output name by adding "_conv" the your original file name. You can change this to any name you like by either selecting the output file name or by double clicking on the file in the Input List.

Q: What file formats does Reframe support? |
| |
A: Reframe supports a variety of movie, video, and audio formats as input and output. Please click here to see the complete list.

Q: Is there a manual that comes with Reframe? How do I find one? |
| |
A: Yes, Reframe comes with both online help and printable PDF manual. You can access the online help at any time by choosing "Reframe Help" from the Help menu within the program. The printable PDF manual is included in the folder labeled "User Guide" in the .DMG disk image of the original installer.
It is your responsibility to keep the original installer in case you wish to access your PDF User Guide or to reinstall the application later. If you do not have your original installer, you can request a new one using this online form.

Q: Does Reframe work on Snow Leopard, Mac OS X 10.6? |

A: Yes. Reframe is fully compatible with Snow Leopard. Please see the System Requirements page for more information.

Q: How do I uninstall the full verion of Reframe? How do I uninstall the demo version of Reframe? |
|
A: The uninstallation procedures for both the demo and the full version are basically the same. Here are step by step instructions.
Macintosh version:
- Drag the Reframe or Reframe Demo application to the trash.
- In the Finder, choose Go>Go To Folder and type "/Library/Receipts".
- Drag "ReframeInstall.pkg" (full version) or "ReframeDemoInstall.pkg" (demo version) to the trash.
- In the Finder, choose Go > Go To Folder and type "~/Library/Preferences" to go to your user preferences folder.
- Drag the file "com.miraizon.Reframe.plist" (full version) or "com.miraizon.ReframeDemo.plist" (demo version) to the trash.
- Empty the trash.

Q: How do I upgrade from the demo version to the full version of Reframe? |
| |
A: The demo version and the full version are two separate programs. There is no actual upgrade procedure, and it is not in fact necessary to delete the demo version to install the full version, although we recommend it. To delete the demo version, follow the steps above to uninstall it. Then proceed to install the full version.

Q: Can I reinstall Cinematize on my new machine? How do I reinstall Reframe on my machine? |
| |
A: Yes, you can reinstall Reframe on your new machine or the same machine. Your End User License Agreement allows you to install the program on up to two machines: one being your main machine and the other a back-up machine or laptop, as long as you are the only user. In order to reinstall Reframe, you will need your original installer. It is your responsibility to keep the original installer in case you wish to reinstall the application later. If you do not have your original installer, you can request a new one using this form.
If you are reinstalling Reframe on the same machine, make sure to uninstall your old Reframe application first following the directions above or the instructions in Chapter 1 of the Reframe User Guide.
